MulgaNet aims to overcome the geographical, time, convenience and cost barriers for rural health workers wishing to access information and development opportunities, and to reduce the ongoing professional isolation of practitioners.

NSW Centre for Rural and Remote Mental Health

The NSW Centre for Rural and Remote Mental Health (CRRMH) provides education and training programs to mental health staff based in rural and remote areas. Its key strategic directions include education, research and service evaluation. It aims to develop information, support and educational programs for the workforce and others using emerging technologies and evidence-based practice, and where relevant to undertake these programs in collaboration with other organisations.

The CRRMH team administer the MulgaNet site, including resource validation and moderation of MulgaBoard forums.

ANU Centre for Mental Health Research

The Centre for Mental Health Research aims to improve the mental health of Australians through research and development, training, policy and the dissemination of health information.

The Centre's e-mental health Research& Development Group (e-hub) develop and evaluate websites that deliver psycho-education, psychological interventions, and clinical and consumer networking. A range of the e-hub’s projects have explored the importance and quality of health information on the Internet, and the use of the Internet for disseminating public health information on depression.

The e-mental health Research & Development team have built the MulgaNet website, and undertake its maintenance and hosting.

The MulgaNet site is broadly based on BrolgaNet - a network for consumer participation in mental health research, also developed by the e-hub group at the Centre for Mental Health Research, in conjunction with its Depression & Anxiety Consumer Research Unit.
